There had been some Chargers fans hoping that the Chiefs beat the Seahawks on Sunday night football so the Bolts can rest some of their starters. Because it would seem like a stretch for Kansas City to lose to the Raiders, I can see that train of thought. Some of these players have been playing a ton of snaps and could certainly use a week off. The defensive guys like Jatavis Brown, Melvin Ingram, and the secondary would certainly come back fresher with a week off. Anthony Lynn put that to rest Monday morning:
With the Chiefs game being flexed from 10 a.m. pacific to 1 p.m. pacific the Chargers really don’t have a choice to play their starters. I’m also in the camp that you don’t want to “lose your edge” and rest guys.
Lynn also said that he expects RB Austin Ekeler to return. Ekeler hasn’t played in a few games due to a neck injury.
That would be big for the Chargers as they certainly could have used Ekeler’s explosive ability against the Ravens.
