The San Francisco 49ers 2018 season, filled with so much promise and hope, has transformed into near-despair. Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s season came to an abrupt end after he tore his ACL last Sunday. The 49ers will likely start C.J. Beathard when they face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at 1:25 p.m. PT/4:25 p.m. ET on KOIN-6, CBS or try FuboTV (free trial).
The 49ers (1-2) were seen as a trendy pick to earn a playoff berth with Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback. But Garoppolo suffered the injury on a non-contact play during the 49ers 38-27 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3. Beathard appeared in seven games – five starts – and threw for 1,430 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 54.9 percent of his passes.
The Chargers (1-2) are coming off a 35-23 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. While the Chargers have lost two of their first three games, the two losses occurred at Kansas City and at the Rams. Quarterback Philip Rivers continues to play well, he threw two touchdown passes in the loss and he has thrown eight touchdown passes this season.
