Los Angeles Chargers select beast at LB in Jeremiah’s first mock draft

With the offseason in full gear this means that mock draft seasons is as well. We got to see ESPN’s Mel Kiper mock Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins Thursday to Los Angeles. Now, NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah released his first mock draft earlier today.

Like Kiper, Jeremiah addresses the defensive side of the ball with the No. 28 overall selection. However, he goes with the other position of need by mocking former Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson to the Bolts.

Here is what Jeremiah had to say about the pick.

The Chargers need to get better at the linebacker position and Wilson is a true three-down player.

He is pretty self explanatory with the decision-making of Wilson to the Chargers in the first round. It’s obvious that this will be a position of need after three players suffered season-ending injuries throughout the season.

The 6-foot-2 and 234 pound LB displays ideal range and an aggressive playmaking motor. Wilson is a downhill playmaker that finds away to navigate traffic and make plays in the box. The former Alabama product is one of the best coverage linebackers, and has backed it up with four interceptions in 2018. He shows the ability to drop into both man and zone coverages.

The Alabama product would be a home run selection and could be the future at the MIKE position if the teams elects to move on from Denzel Perryman.
