Los Angeles Chargers GM Reveals Major Philip Rivers News

Coming off of one of his best seasons as a professional quarterback, Los Angeles Chargers star Philip Rivers revealed he plans to play over the next few years.

In an age where young quarterbacks have emerged – the presumptive MVP is 23-year-old Patrick Mahomes – the old guard of quarterbacks are still relevant in today’s game.

Tom Brady and Drew Brees are in their respective conference title games this weekend, Ben Roethlisberger plans to play for years to come and now Philip Rivers will lead the Chargers “for at least a handful of more years.”

Chargers GM Tom Telesco spoke with ESPN’s Eric Williams and offered his take on Rivers’ future with the team.

“I can tell you he’s not going anywhere, so he’s going to be here,” Telesco said. “We’ll talk at the right point, as far as the moves we need to make in the offseason, the resources we have and how it all fits in. But yeah, he’s not going anywhere.”

The 37-year-old quarterback proved he has what it takes this season after leading the Chargers to the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Despite losing to the New England Patriots, Rivers and the Chargers will be a formidable AFC opponent for years to come.
