New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had plenty of time to throw the football during his team’s Divisional Round win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon, but the one Chargers players who did get some pressure was defensive end Joey Bosa.
After the game, Bosa revealed that he and Brady joked around a bit during the game:
“He did a really good job getting rid of the ball,” Bosa said, according to Adam London of NESN. “I mean, every single time I won — which, I won a few pass rushes here and there — the ball was gone.
We made a joke, we were talking to each other and he just patted me on the back and I said ‘Stop getting rid of the ball so fast!’ He said ‘Stop getting to me so fast and I won’t have to get rid of it!’
“Their O-line, they did a good job. I wasn’t getting much in the first half. Every time you win a rush and you look up and the ball is gone, it’s a little demoralizing. But I just kept going and I think our defense fought that whole second half. Came up very short this time.”
Brady was not sacked once during the Patriots’ win, completing 34 of his 44 passes for 343 yards and a touchdown, putting the narrative that he is finally declining on hold for at least another week.
Bosa played in just seven games this season due to a foot injury, finishing with 23 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
New England will move on to battle the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game next weekend.
