5 key dates for Los Angeles Chargers this offseason

The 2019 NFL season kicks off Sept. 3. There’s a lot that the Chargers have to achieve before then if they want to make a deeper run in the playoffs next season, including shoring up the defense and getting the offense back to form by finding the identity on the offensive line.

Here are five key dates to mark on your calendars:

January 26 – The Senior Bowl, the second-most scouted event after the Combine, takes place at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, AL. The Chargers are notorious for selecting players that take part in it. In 2018, they scouted and drafted Uchenna Nwosu, Justin Jones, Kyzir White and Scott Quessenberry.

February 26-March 4 – The entire NFL heads to Indianapolis for the annual NFL Scouting Combine begins at Lucas Oil Stadium. Hundreds of prospects showcase their talent and athleticism in front of scouts, along with starting the formal interview process.

March 13: The 2019 league year and free agency period begin at 4 p.m.

April 15 – The first day that clubs may begin offseason workout programs, meaning the Chargers likely return to Hoag Performance Center to kick off Phase I.

April 25-27: Chargers hold the 28th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, which takes place in Nashville, TN.
