The Senior Bowl practices concluded yesterday and I was able to get a good glimpse at the top prospects up close and personal. While I was out scouting the talent on display, Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling was whipping up his new mock draft, which covers three rounds.
The Chargers address both sides of the ball in the trenches and snag a linebacker who is starting to emerge among the rest in his group.
Let’s take a look to see who Los Angeles drafted in the latest three-round mock draft.
The Chargers needing to improve on the offensive line is evident. The lack of production up front towards the end of the season caused the offense to slowly diminish and become one of the weak points for a team that was averaging over 25 points per game.
Oklahoma OT Cody Ford has been a trendy pick as of late, but one that would be well worth it at No. 28 overall. Ford possesses all of the tools to be a long-term offensive lineman at the next level, whether that’s as a guard or tackle.
He has very good athletic ability, which features lower body explosiveness with his kick slide, footwork, balance, and speed, all of which make a smooth mover in pass protection and in the run game.
Ford’s versatility could make him a valuable pick for the Bolts, who must try to upgrade their talent and depth along each part of the line.
